Today, we're going to be looking at the top three reasons to make video content like this. So by the end hopefully you'll know what's in it for you. What's in it for your business? Why would you bother with any of it?

1. First up, videos like this get your personality across in a heartbeat

That matters because if your business relies on you and your personality and relies on people buying into you in any way whatsoever, then being out there online is absolutely essential. It's not a nice to have. It's got to be there, and video is the best and quickest way to do that.

Next up, , and that might sound like a bit of a wierd one, so let me try and explain. Loads of companies out there, brilliant companies, you know, you go to their websites. It looks brilliant. It's all nice. Lovely pictures. You go to the social media feed. There's lovely pictures, there's lovely tweets of stock imagery, but that's fine.

2. It makes your business look alive

and that might sound like a bit of a weird one, so let me try and explain. There are loads of companies out there, brilliant companies, and when you go to their website it looks brilliant. It's all nice. There are lovely pictures. You go to the social media feed. There's lovely  tweets of stock imagery. Everything looks the business. It is all very professional.

But where's the life? Where's the spark?

And then, you scroll down to the bottom of the social media feed, or go on their YouTube channel and there's nothing there or even worse, there is a video there, but it's from two years ago.

You know what I mean? It's just... it can feel like certain businesses are kind of in stasis and they're just it's fine, but there's nothing really vital and alive about them.

Whereas they could be showing a ton of video content that maybe isn't super slick and storyboarded and focus grouped, but that is regular and that evolves, and you can see a shape to it. And it's informative and it's inspiring. At a glance this business FEELS alive. It feels like it's evolving and moving forward. And these days, when things move so quickly, that's a good thing, a really good thing.

3. Finally, videos like this are bingeable (I wish there was a better word!)

So what do I mean by that? Well, you know what I mean? You go on Netflix, you've got a bit of spare time and you see good series and you just watch it all. You power through in a weekend and you overload on it, and it's fun. I do that a lot. (Or, I did before I had kids).

I've had people come to me who've connected, and the first message they'll send in the next couple of days is, I've just watched all your videos! They'll go to my posts, they'll see plenty of videos and they'll just they'll rattle through them. A certain kind of person will want to do a deep dive into what you're all about very quickly.

It doesn't necessarily mean they're ready to buy. It just means that for whatever reason, they're in this kind of semi hyperactive mode where something has caught their interest. And then suddenly there's a ton of stuff there that's bite size. That's obvious what it's about. That gets the personality across. And the beauty of doing that with video rather than, say articles, is that by the end of that binge session... it's a shame there's not a nicer word for it, isn't it?... Regardless, at the end of that session, they feel like they know you. That's what's happened kind of over and over again with people who got in touch.

That's the beauty of these kinds of videos. People can just watch a few and then feel like they know you.

Now it's a very telling thing as to whether you think that's a good or bad thing for your business. The kind of people that we work with, that's the ultimate aim. Their personality is so integral to the business that the aim is for them to get that true audience, to know them, to understand them, to understand that they understand their audience. This feedback loop of everyone just really understanding what everyone's all about and how the audience can be helped with with what you do.

And it doesn't stop there...

There's a billion other different reasons why videos good. You can go into all that, the analytic side of things and how it gets more traction, more engagement. But for me, those reasons are the ones. It's about how it makes you feel. It's about how you make your audience feel.

That's what videos for. For like spark and and life and forward motion and all that good stuff.
